The Sport

The sport, once thought of as a blood sport, is now accepted as the purest form of pugilistic competition. Proven safer in every way then boxing, kickboxing, or even football, the once taboo underground event is now selling out shows across the country with no deaths or serious injury in its history of existence in the United States dating back to 1994, when in contrast 12 fighters a year die in boxing matches in the US. The cage is a stigma, and amplifies the misconceived brutality the sport possesses, but in reality the cage is a safety arena preventing competitors from being tossed from the ring as happens in shows that do not use the cage causing fighters to land in the stands, or on concrete floors, and endangering all involved. A mix of Karate, boxing, wrestling, and other forms of martial arts, the sport has been termed appropriately Mixed Martial Arts, this is a sport of honor and respect which carries over to the competitors, the shows, and the fans.
