| Mixed Martial Arts is the fastest growing sport in the world and because of the boom in popularity the markets are inundated with rouge, unsanctioned shows and promotions. Desert Xtreme is the largest Mixed Martial Arts Promotion in the Southwest with over 25 successful live shows to it's credit. The credibility of Desert Xtreme is unquestioned in the promotions like The Ultimate Fighting Championship, King of the Cage and Pride all drawing fighters from the ranks of Desert Xtreme. Our mission is to grow the local mixed martial arts market in the southwest to the levels of international recognition enjoyed by the big three pay per view promotions, while at the same time maintaining the roots of New Mexico. To do this we need a venue partner to grow our market share beyond those other shows in the region and the hearts of the fans here at home. |
The Sport The sport, once thought of as a blood sport, is now accepted as the purest form of pugilistic competition. Proven safer in every way then boxing, kickboxing, or even football, the once taboo underground event is now selling out shows across the country with no deaths or serious injury in it's history of existence in the United States dating back to 1994, when in contrast 12 fighters a year die in boxing matches in the US. The cage is a stigma, and amplifies the misconceived brutality the sport possesses, but in reality the cage is a safety arena preventing competitors from being tossed from the ring as happens in shows that do not use the cage causing fighters to land in the stands, or on concrete floors, and endangering all involved. A mix of Karate, boxing, wrestling, and other forms of martial arts, the sport has been termed appropriately Mixed Martial Arts, this is a sport of honor and respect which carries over to the competitors, the shows, and the fans. The Fans Our supporters are a diverse demographic with the core group consisting of professionals who study martial arts either in practice or through entertainment. They come to watch athletes of different styles test their combat systems in a sanctioned competitive environment. The fans who attend Desert Xtreme events range in age from 18 to 65. Vendor records for the last 3 years reveal that attendees, once at the show, have an average per show budget of $6.00 per person from concession and merchandise records and growing. Our show has yet to experience the addition of a casino environment, but we historically have seen MMA shows generate great drop counts when partnered properly with the promotion company, and the casino. The average income of people who attend our shows are above average to the population and range from $35,000 annually to $75,000. Because most of our fighters come from local gyms a huge draw of local fans attend our shows. We spread our fight gyms exposure throughout the state and huge crowds from Sante Fe and Los Vegas, Gallup and Grants, Los Cruses and El Paso, and a great deal of our fight schools come from Albuquerque. The Shows Desert Xtreme is known for a full night of fun and excitement with no less than 10 fights in a night, but averaging as many as 18 fights in any given night to give the fans their money's worth. Each show is professionally filmed and prepared in DVD's for distribution. Our shows have consistent ticket prices and a tried and true level of availability which has allowed our shows to grow each time in attendance and sponsorship. Our fight footage will be used in a number of Hollywood produced films and the exposure for our venue partners will be enormous. The Fighters The United States has been putting out some of the best athletes in the world and the world of Mixed Martial arts is no exception. In an industry dominated by foreign martial arts from Brazilian Jui Jutsu, to Russian Sambo, to Asia's numerous styles of unarmed combat American Fight Gyms are the birthplace for more than half of the best known fighters worldwide. New Mexico is home to dozens of top contenders such as Keith Jardine, Joey Villasenor, Donald Sanchez, Moises Castillo, Alberto Crane, Richard Montano, and many more. The fans they draw are worldwide, and the crowds they pull in their home state is quite appealing for any promoter. Desert Xtreme being local has most of these fighters under contract for local shows. The Venue The venue partner chosen will benefit from over 25 shows worth of fan base and fighter development, a history of ticket sales exceeding $750,000, and a history of international sponsors adding their branding to that of Desert Xtreme. Desert Xtreme has made money for every venue since the first show almost 3 years ago, and with the business models success has managed to grow it's hold on the market share to the largest most respected MMA show in the Southwest Sponsorship Partners The sponsors that support our shows are recognized state wide as leaders in business, and have the integrity and respect of political leaders, business leaders, and consumers. We pride ourselves on the relationships we have with international companies on a local level such as Budweiser, Pepsi, and Clear Channel, and on established local partnerships from leaders in local markets such as Valley Fence, Defined Fitness, Graphic Connection, and Los Vatos Sports Wear. Community Desert Xtreme donates 10% of all profits from every show to local churches, and all sponsorship partnership contracts are first offered to local charities such as Boys and Girls clubs, D.A.R.E., YDI, and other local clubs or community oriented programs. |
